Dr. Sawsan Rashdan is an associate professor of internal medicine and a thoracic oncologist at UT Southwestern Medical Center and the Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center in Dallas, Texas. She specializes in the treatment of lung cancer and thoracic malignancies.
Dr. Rashdan serves as the Quality and Safety Officer of the Division of Hematology and Oncology, where she leads initiatives aimed at improving the quality of care delivered to cancer patients, strengthening patient safety, and reducing health disparities.
Her research focuses on developing innovative treatments for lung cancer, including clinical trials studying the combination of stereotactic radiotherapy with targeted therapies for patients with mutation-driven lung cancer.
Beyond her clinical and academic work, Dr. Rashdan is dedicated to global oncology and humanitarian work. She is active in the Syrian American Medical Society, where she contributes to developing programs that improve cancer care and advance medical education in resource-limited settings, and she trains and mentors medical students, residents, and fellows.
