He earned his medical degree from the University of Damascus School of Medicine in Syria and completed his internal medicine residency at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. He then completed a subspecialty fellowship in hematology and oncology at the University of Missouri in Columbia, where he served as Chief Fellow.
During his residency, he conducted clinical research in the melanoma department at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, participating in data collection and analysis and taking responsibility for establishing a bio-tissue bank. Prior to joining the institute in 2025, Dr. Hasanein was in private practice in Lakeland, Florida.
Outside of medicine, he enjoys cooking Italian and Mediterranean cuisine, playing soccer and table tennis, and collecting old coins and stamps.
